Khaos is a masthead rigged GK24 from 1978, there is a picture on the site.
Main, Genoa No1, Jib No2,spinnaker for lighter winds.
Mariner 8hp 2-stroke outboard, service at beginning of 2008 and not a beat since, comes with 2 12 litre tanks.
12v battery charged by Forgen wind charger and shore power, with new Nasa battery monitor. Chart plotter (5" Navman), DSC VHF (Navman with wired GPS for position), Nasa depth sounder, Contest 100 compass, Navico tiller pilot, Tacktick masthead wind speed and repeater in cockpit. Gas alarm and CD/radio with 2 speakers.
Clock and barometer.
Fairly new toilet (2004) with 2007 brass stopcocks and hull fittings.
2 water tanks of 10 litres each and a double sink!.
2 jackstays, lifebouy with light, danbouy and throw line.
Danforth type anchor and enough chain and warp.
Radar reflector.
We have renewed the side linings in the fore and main cabin and it was our intention to renew the head lining in the main cabin this winter.
We have really enjoyed sailing her but I have spoilt the other half by sending her on a competant crew course on a yacht with headroom and better facilities.

The summer has passed, I prepared by beloved boat to sell and sail. but she sits on her own cradle unloved but polished and anti-fouled. Price news, I reduced her once and now have to reduce her again. £5500.00 or near offer

Hi Peter, It is the boat's delivery costs, they are at least 1/3 of the price of the boat.

Re:Galloping Khaos for sale 2009/09/03 21:20
I bought Hurly Burly earlier this year and though I could have sailed it from the Medway to Eastbourne, she was an unknown quantity to me and a longish sea voyage is not the time to check the rig / gear. I ended up borrowing a trailer from a similar 1/4 tonner, rented a transit and took a day off to collect her. Including fuel, less than £100. OK the lift de-mast and subsequent re-rig and re-launch cost as much again plus, but those costs are inevitable and just have to be bourne.

There is a psychological barrier to overcome when you buy a boat for little money. I bought Hurly Burly as a bare boat for a song and every thing I buy for her as I upgrade gear / rig etc is a substantial fraction of what I paid for her. A new set of cushions - over a third of what I paid for her? A new set of sails - half her value? I will either only ever buy second hand, or be happy that I got a cracking boat and that even if I upgraded all the systems on board with the latest technology, I still would have spent half of what a modern equivilent would have cost. I recon I could spend as much as the purchase price of the boat again and still have good value for money. I may never get my money back, but I don't know any boat that could give me that.

Have you tried boatshift.com?

Hi Peter, as you possibly noticed from my profile I live in Shetland an as yet GK24 free area. It is not the best time of the year for sailing her up.

Re transport for Galloping Khaos. If you would like to contact Reg on regtheboat@googlemail.com he may be able to overcome the cost problem of shipping to Shetland.
