who's who?

The GK24OA is currently very much an online community. The forums, articles and boat profiles have been developed over a number of years by George Isted, Andy Blackburn and Stephen Homan-Berry.

However there seems to be a consensus that we should be organising more GK24 fleet activities, both cruising and racing. To this end we're looking for volunteers and suggestions. Please put your oar in / hand up in the events forum to get things moving!

objectives

Agreed objectives of the GK24 Owners Association

  1. To develop and maintain the most up to date register of GK24 owners throughout the world.
  2. To develop, maintain and promote an up-to-date calendar of sailing events throughout the UK to encourage as many GK24's to race and cruise together
  3. To create a forum for GK24 owners to contact each other and share information.
  4. To promote the interests of the Westerly GK24 to the media, existing and prospective owners in order to maintain awareness of the GK24.
  5. To develop and maintain an up-to-date website to support all of the above

a little history

The GK24 OA was loosely formed in November of 2004 with a view developing a structure, mandate and activities through the winter of this year. We understand that that has been a GK24 register in the past but this has become inactive since the late 1990's, it is our hope that we will be able to re-build this register of GK's and their owners.

The Inaugural meeting was held with four GK24's being represented, these being Forethought (Mike James), Genghis Khan (George Isted), Gulf Kilo (Andy Blackburn) and Scallywag (Andy Taylor). Between the four owners ideas over the structure and purpose of this organisation were discussed and as such a starting point was created from which we could launch this organisation.

The GK24OA would like to thank Portsmouth Sailing Club for the use of their facilities for this meeting.
