While Slingshot's owner Keith may be enjoying the sun and warmth of Singapore the rest of us in the UK are getting the first taste of a cold winter ahead. It's the time of year when many GK's come out of the water for for maintanence and to try and get through some of those jobs we all put off. |

Despite the forecast of light winds an Easterly of around 15 knots welcomed the group of yachts that came out to race. The start line for the final two races had been set out to the east of the submarine barrier. Three GK24's were out on the water Genghis Khan, Scallywag and Gulf Kilo. |

With a cool wind from the north-west the four GK24's that came out to race were lucky to have clear blue sky and bright sunshine. Whilst conditions were good first thing most competitors soon decided that the racing wasn't going to be a walk in the park. The wind strength was around 18kts but going up to the early/mid 20's in gusts. The usual suspects were out on the water with the usual rivalry between Scallywag and Genghis Khan. Gulf-Kilo showed some good upwind performance while pointing high and Graphik had the power to punch through the waves better than anyone. |

The May edition of PBO includes a brief article about the formation of the GK24 Owners Association and a little history of the boats. The article has the suitable title of "GK24 Revivial" and is just one example of how the GK24OA is increasing the awareness of these boats. The article describes the GK24 as "a nifty little cruiser-racer" and is accompanied by a great picture of Gulf-Kilo from the Round the Island 2004. |

A constant easterly force four and bright sunshine greeted the competitors of this series. Four GK24's went out to race just to the east of the submarine barrier. PSC regulars Genghis Khan and Scallywag were joined by Gulf Kilo, and GraphiK joined in for the second of the two races. |

The first day of racing in this series was a bit of a washout as far as GK24's were concerned. Thick fog engulfed the eastern solent and caused a delay in racing with a start in the early afternoon. Only one of the two races ran with around seven boats (no GK's) on the water. A simple windward - leeward course was set but the competitors had to use GPS coordinates to locate the marks, It is hoped that the next Saturday of racing (2nd April) will see the GK24's out in full force. |
