Andrea Vaira from Savona, Italy writes with details of his GK24 "Thor". The boat has been constructed in 1977. The boat hasn' t the sail number. The engine is a Evinrude sail yachting (or sailing yacht, I don' t remember the name) 8 hp outboard and the boat has a mast head rig. ![]() Sails set: 1 main sail, 2 genoa (one big and one medium), 1 jib (6 square meters), 1 spinnaker The boat is of my girlfriend's (Daniele) father but in the last 2-3 years he has no time, so I became the only user (with my girlfriend and in partucular with my friends) and I make by myself everywork Thor needs (sometimes my friends help me). These are the principal works made: In the 2002-03 when Daniele bought Thor he remaked the hull (all the bottom works) with epossidic bicomponent product because it had suffered the osmosis effect. ![]() In march 2004 Daniele repainted the hull with antifouling. During a sailing trip the rudder broke at the waterline point (north wind force 6/7, state of the sea: smooth, but thanks to outboard engine for coming back). The blade rudder broke in two parts at the waterline point: one disappeared into the sea and the other remained attached to two metal fixing! In may 2007 I repainted the hull with antifouling and I removed the paint from the keel because it showed bubbles full of water. I repainted the woods with a varnish. |
