Tim Barker writes in with details of his GK24 "Goshawk", Name: Goshawk Goshawk has been around the solent area most of her life and regularly raced from 1979 to 1992 after which she was used as a cruising boat. Since 2001 she was laid up ashore in Emsworth Harbour under going restoration but like so many projects like this nothing was completed. I purchased her in ashore in emsworth as a shell and parts in May 2007 and have spent all the summer completely restoring her of which I am 3/4 finished. I hope to have her completed early in 2008 and am looking forward to some exciting sailing over next year with the goal of entering into the 2008 Round the Island Race. Restoration todate:1. All deck fittings have been removed inspected and replaced where necessary then re-bedded. 2. Original shroud deck fittings reinforced with cross plate. 3. New forward hatch 4. Small anchor well with deck hatch added this has been glassed in and is self draining 5. New self draining gas locker added to cockpit 6. Original treat master cockpit decking removed and replaced with Tek-Decking 7. Painted blue shear strip removed and hull then cut and polished and smaller vinyl shear strips re-fitted 8. New Outboard Bracket 9. New tiller 10.New main sheet adjustable track and car. 11. Completely re-lined professionally throughout cabin area 12. New Toilet 13. New cooker Items to be finished A. Completely re-wired with marine grade tinned wiring B. New side locker plywood facing with locker fronts C. Re -fit electronics most of which I got with the boat which were new but unfitted: Raymarine ST60 Wind, Echo, Log, Multi with GPS, ST4000 + Tiller pilot, VHF with DSC and remote mic, Nasa battery monitor, wind generator and new regulator. |
