Zebedee

Mark Osborn writes in with details of Zebedee... I have paperwork on the boat showing she has been Essex based since early nineties. She is masthead rig with additional set of lower shrouds, the mast is not stepped so until it is I can't tell you if these are in lieu of inner fore stay to allow dipping of spinnaker boom. No inboard, lots of storage space though! 3.5 hp Tohatsu which was probably adequate for coming to mooring on Crouch but may not be man enough to get through the entrance to Sovereign Harbour when its blowing. Two full sets of 4 hanked on headsails plus spinnaker. Age ranges from 2004 back to seventies. We will be using her for camping trips to Chichester, Isle of White & France (closer to France than IOW). We will also be racing her in the SHYC series and RNLI regatta. Current debate I'm having in local bar is whether I should switch to furling headsail, raising the foot of the sail is not so good for racing but it will be much easier for my young kids to handle. I went for the GK24 for a number of reasons; in no particular order: Good performance for size of boat. British built. Lots of space down below. They don't cost much, less than 4k for Zebedee which means you don't feel bad if you skip a few weekends to do something else. At under 7.5m are on the lowest mooring tariff. There are a few GK24 in the harbour here, one called Snark is just along the jetty in the North Harbour but hasn't been sailed for a long time so looking pretty sorry, he others are in the South & West harbours so I don't know the names of them.
