Ben Moody writes in with details of Slipalong I bought slipalong from Tony Key in june 06 having looked at other Gks and as it is fractional with an inboard, the original petter mini 6 diesel, with a sturdy trailer and seemed in a good state knowing the only variable was the sails which we will update as my experience improves .I am a dinghy sailor grown out of lasers and europes, so to have a sail or two in front of the main is a new one too. We replaced the cutlass bearing and then found the prop had no nut holding it on, it was corrosion being the only true fixer . It took 8 hours overnight to drag her back from off the Humber at Hull to west Somerset (am a farmer ) and then stripped off all the antifouling and left her to dry in any shed that was free which resulted in a lot of moving around as every 6-7 weeks we change sheds with our calf rearing enterprise . ![]() The blocks at the bottom of the mast were moved up 1,1/2 inch to allow a good boot to be fitted ,hope this doesn't cause problems and we will replace the standing rigging this winter and the windows . The loo needs to be freed to work which we only found out after launch and the electric panel will have to be replaced as the fuse holders have become brittle and snap each time they are touched . I was offered a contract at Dartmouth for a swinging mooring ,where I hope to race her on wed nights when we have become familiar . ![]() She was kept at Plymouth once and moved to Ipswich and then to hull before coming back down the M5 to Dartmouth any info on previous life would be greatly received .A previous owner we think sprayed her very professionally black from presumably a white hull but no info on this .
