Weymouth Regatta 2006
Minx visits from Poole. Chuckles and Minx compete in the >1021 PY class.
A blowy weekend which saw 31 knots constant across the deck and 40 knot gusts was perfect for racing in Weymouth bay. Friday was a long distance race with two blats around the cans each day on Saturday and Sunday.

Minx skippered by Chris Hawkes came from Poole Yacht Club and put in a fantastic performance taking three bullets, two seconds and winning the class overall. The Chuckles Too crew could only watch as she’d pulled out numerous boat lengths before the first windward mark. Chuckles had to be content with a sixth place in class.

Two masthead GKs with inboard engines certainly didn’t have matched boat speed, something will have to be done about that! And of course one crew didn’t make as many mistakes as the other...

We usually say on Chuckles that the small kite is always a wrong choice, however it wasn’t this weekend and managed to shred our 6mm dynema pole downhaul; luckily before it shredded the trimmer’s arm muscles.

Competitors returned to the yacht clubs with big smiles and stories of numerous broaches and daring do. Great fun.

Till we meet again!
