GimmicK

Robert Barrowman (owner) sent us the following message about Gimmick. The Photo below show her looking fantastic!

We bought a very tired gk24 in sep 2002 but have never sailed her. she is fractional rigged, hull number x317. We work on her almost every saturday and to date we have completely stripped her interior due to hanging down headlining  crazed windows,no upholstery and worn out varnish work. We have replaced the teak rubbing strakes, teak toe rails, teak cockpit seats, the coachhouse windows, the foredeck hatch and made a new lazarete locker lid. In addition to this we have sanded back the years of non-slip paint from the deck (what a task) and replaced it with a two-pack system with awl grip grit added. Scraped the antifouling back to the gel coat ready for some vc tar,

We have removed all the deck hardware and repaired the gel coat where these were attached giving us a fresh start. We have replaced all the standing rigging and the guard wires and intend to replace the running rigging. we now have the opportunity to fit new winches, organisers and clutches. We thought of fitting the gibsheet winches directly to the coamings instead of the worn turning blocks and would be grateful of your input on this matter.

Good to see a site dedicated to the GK24.
