Owner - Brad Herringshaw


Received the following mail from John Hetherton, a previous owner on 5jun2007 :

Sir, I first came across your Web Pages by accident (being ill,   was simply passing the day on the Web) and was rather surprised

To see my “Old Boat” again in your listings; and wondered if Brad Harringshaw would be interested in a bit of its history ?

I have a copy of Westerly’s GK24 Sales Brochure and see you already have that on your Web Site.

Brad, your GK24 Yacht has moved around, but it is rather unique to note that you have ended up with it in Plymouth !!

I have a copy of :-        Port of Plymouth Sailing Association         PORTSMOUTH CERTIFICATE.

[Saltash Sc written on the corner] With the Yachts Name as “Goldilocks”, Sail No. 5386Y, the owner was a

Dave Shawcross,  Portsmouth No. 108 , and dated  25 – 4 – 81

I became the owner of “Goldilocks” having purchased it from:- Holt Leisure Parks Ltd. Kip Marina, The Yacht Harbour,

Inverkip, Scotland where it was for sale at £6,950 on the 16^th. August 1984 where it was listed as Built in 1978.

The name became a ‘joke’ at many ports of call and among the small harbours that I changed it on painting in 1985.

Being very keen on cruising around the beautiful waters of The Firth of Clyde I enjoyed to the full the fine performance

And handling characteristics of this yacht. It gave a clean wake in light airs to many a club racer, and felt secure in

Heavy seas in a force seven as we sought shelter around the islands. I had the pleasure of owing Love Knot 16 years.

 Owing to an operation for my health, I rather reluctantly sold Love Knot to one supposed to be shipping it to Cyprus,

But later got a call from a new owner who did a lot of renovation work on it at McAlister’s yard at Dumbarton,

Asking if he could keep the name; “Love Knot”, while re painting it from Blue to Red and did a beautiful restoration.
