Swift
Myself and my wife bought SWIFT after many days of boat hunting and many disappointments. It was on a trip to England at the end of September we first laid eyes on SWIFT in Thornham marina just outside Southampton. We did a deal there and then and returned to Ireland very happy and started to make plans to get her home. By chance there was a trailer advertised on this site which we also bought so all we had to do was book the ferry tickets and we were on our way home.

She is hull number 101, has a Volvo inboard diesel engine(MD5A) which was fitted in 1980 so i suspect she started life with an outboard. She is deep fin with masthead rig.

She was formaly DITTONIA(1993-2000) and prior to this DORETHEA. She was called SWIFT from 2000 to present. If anybody knows any of this boats history we would be delighted to hear from you.

We plan to race SWIFT as well as doing some cruising with the Isles of Scilly looking like our destination next summer.

This was the reason we chose a GK24. We wanted a boat we could race and not always be last, but we also wanted a boat we could going cruising for a couple of weeks in and was a reasonable price. The GK24 ticked all the boxes. We are looking forwrd to launch day early next spring and we hope to enter the April league in Kinsale before bringing her back to Waterford for the summer.
