Wolfhound
Stuart Crawford writes from New Zealand,

I have a GK24 called Wolfhound. It was built here in New Zealand in 1977, by Miller and Tunnage in Dunedin, out of three skin Kauri plank. It has a raised deck instead of the cabin top that the Westerly's do. My understanding is that it was built to the original design from Laurent Giles office.

I have only recently purchased it in a poor state of repair, with the intention of refitting it. It is rigged as a mast head sloop. I do not have the plans that it was built from, but am interested in seeing the original mast head sail plan to see where the centres of effort are.

Wolfhound has an air cooled petrol inboard engine. It is kept on a pile mooring in Otago Harbour.

I'm not sure of a sail number. As the deck has significant rot, I have not felt comfortable with raising sail, for fear the rig might not stand up to it. So I haven't yet taken any sails out of their bags yet. I am planning on redesigning the rig for more casual sailing, rather than racing.

I bought Wolfhound from Terry Doyle, who brought it from the original owner Jim Lucus. The hull was built by the Miller and Tunnage yard and finished by Jim Lucus, who was a marine surveyor and provided the plans to the boat builders directly from the office of Laurent Giles.

In the early 80's it won at least one cup per year in the Otago harbour and off the Otago coast.
